ICE used ankle monitors, informants to plan immigration raids where 680 people were arrested

Image
Over more than a decade, hundreds of undocumented workers across the country told federal officials they worked at food processing plants in Mississippi.

In some instances, immigrants were released from detention and outfitted with ankle monitors while awaiting deportation proceedings. Authorities tracking their GPS coordinates were able to see they were coming and going from Mississippi food processing plants.

On Wednesday, hundreds of immigration officials descended on seven Mississippi plants owned by four companies — Peco Foods, Koch Foods, PH Food and Pearl River Foods. They are suspected of "willfully and unlawfully employing" undocumented workers, recently unsealed search warrants say.

Workers reported hearing the roar of helicopters and seeing agents round up mostly Latino workers for questioning. Many wept as they waved goodbye to their family and friends being carted away on buses for processing.

It was the largest immigration sting of its kind in more…

What Is a Confidential Informant List?

Image
A confidential informant list is a compilation of police informants’ identities, accompanied by their locations, past criminal activity and other characteristics, reports the New York Times. The individuals listed are suspected to assist various government agencies in identifying sources of illegal activities and organized crime.

In 2019 the website RonsSpot.org is causing a lot of controversy among the judicial system states a New York Times article. The website exposes names, mug shots and detailed court documents of informers. Ron's Spot offers memberships to those interested in gaining access to the various documents and information regarding both informants and undercover agents.

5 Years Later, Some Fear O.C. Jail Snitch Scandal Will Go Unpunished

Image
Nearly five years have passed since a lawyer representing the man who slaughtered eight people inside a Seal Beach salon first raised questions about the way investigators used informants inside Orange County’s jails.

The accusation — that sheriff’s deputies planted a prolific snitch in the cell of confessed killer Scott Dekraai in the hopes of eliciting information without his lawyer present, and then covered up their unconstitutional actions — seemed outlandish at the time. But jailhouse records soon proved otherwise, and the Orange County district attorney’s office and Sheriff’s Department found themselves embroiled in a national scandal. Government Snitches: Incentivized Witnesses Are the Leading Cause of Wrongful Convictions

Image
Every year, innocent people go to prison, or even death row, because of government informants who lie to get a good deal in their own criminal case. The problem, studies show, is the fact that this horse-trading between the informants and the government is largely informal, unregulated, and highly secretive. On top of that, the informants hold all the cards, because they have valuable information the government wants.

This motivates some prosecutors to bend whatever rules there are to get what they want. This must change. There has to be meaningful transparency with the government’s use of “incentivized witnesses.” There must be some way to validate the information offered by an incentivized witness who has every reason to game the system, because the system in place is deeply flawed. 50 Cent ‘Henchman’ Report is Fake, Feds Say

Image
Someone really wants you to believe 50 Cent went crying to the cops about Jimmy Henchman back in the day, but a report that name drops him is complete BS … according to officials who know the case inside and out.

Here’s the snitch — a document purporting to be a “Report of Investigation” by the U.S. Dept. of Justice’s DEA Office has been circulating for a while that cites 50 as having called the feds in 2009 to tip them off to ex-music mogul, James Rosemond — aka Jimmy H. King of the Snitches: The Fashion Photographer Who Duped Drug Lords and the DEA

Image
When the FBI showed up at the door of his penthouse in Miami Beach, fashion photographer Baruch Vega was drinking merlot with a group of models, stylists, and assistants. The group had just returned from two weeks of shoots in Puerto Rico and Cancún. They were preparing for another in Jamaica the next day.

It was March 21, 2000. Vega was 53 and feeling like he’d hit his prime. Trim and tan, he owned a nine-seat Hawker jet and was a fixture at South Beach’s trendy restaurants—always wearing a tight black T-shirt and surrounded by beautiful women. He was thinking of trying to make one of them his fourth wife. Continue reading: King of the Snitches: The Fashion Photographer Who Duped Drug Lords and the DEA

Timothy Leary Was FBI Narc

Image
By CBSNews

Timothy Leary, the counterculture guru whose "turn on, tune in, drop out" preachings made him an anti-establishment icon in the 1960s, quietly cooperated with the FBI in 1974 and informed on a radical leftist group in hopes of winning his freedom from jail, newly released FBI records show.

He even identified his collaborators in a 1970 escape from prison, where he was serving a drug-related sentence. Four years later, caught and jailed again, Leary told an FBI agent that he wanted to see "if I can work out a collaborative and ... an honorable relationship."

"I want to get out of prison as quickly as I can," Leary said in a meeting with an FBI agent, a Drug Enforcement Administration agent and two California state law enforcement officials.

Fourteen pages of Leary's FBI file, including interview transcripts and FBI reports, were published on the Internet this week by The Smoking Gun, an online site that publishes documents …
